
In 2015, the population of Saint Lucia was estimated to be around 180,000 people. The economy of Saint Lucia was a slowly developing market economy, and it had strong ties with other Caribbean countries as well as the United States and Canada. It had a high level of foreign investments which contributed to its economic growth. Politically, Saint Lucia was a unitary parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy ruled by Queen Elizabeth II since 1979. In 2015, Kenny Anthony served as Prime Minister while His Excellency Sir Neville Cenac served as Governor General. The Parliament of Saint Lucia was composed of two chambers: Senate and House of Assembly. In terms of defence, Saint Lucia had strong military ties with the United Kingdom which it joined in 1983 as part of its post-Cold War security policy. Saint Lucia. In May, an agreement was signed which means that the citizens of Saint Lucia can stay in the EU countries for short periods without a visa. According to COUNTRYAAH, Castries is the capital of St. Lucia which is located in North America. The agreement applies to six more countries in the Caribbean and Oceania.

In July, a major step was taken towards deepening relations between Saint Lucia and Cuba as the countries signed an agreement on increased trade exchanges. Saint Lucia’s hope is that the country’s products will become more prominent on the Cuban market.
In October, at the Global Citizens’ Forum in Monaco, Prime Minister Kenny Anthony announced that from 2016, Saint Lucia will receive citizenship applications through investments. In practice, this means that it is possible to buy citizenship. Anthony stated in his statement that there was political agreement behind the decision and that both the government and the opposition were in favor of the reform.
